New Social Responsibility Activity for 2005

International Cooperation for gNutrition and Healthh Support Program

Aims to contribute to improving society in the fields of gfood, nutrition and healthh

September 7th, 2004|Tokyo - Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (Ajinomoto Group, President: Kunio Egashira, Headquarter: Tokyo Japan) announced the inauguration of a social responsibility program for 2005 named gAjinomoto International Cooperation for eNutrition and Healthf Support Programh.

The purpose of this Support Program is to support local communities in developing countries by providing grants for international cooperation activities that could contribute to improving society in the fields of gfood, nutrition and healthh.

Ajinomoto Groupfs philosophy is to contribute significant advances in Food and Health on a global basis and ultimately to create a better life for all. Since 1999, as part of these activities operated around the world, Ajinomoto Group has concentrated on improving the quality of life of the people in developing countries. In the past, Ajinomoto Group has provided supports to the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and Peru for nutrition related programs in their local communities.

[gNutrition and Healthh Support Program]
Application for gAjinomoto International Cooperation for eNutrition and Healthf Support Programh has been successfully kicked off on 1st September 04 and will be closed on 10th December 04. Targeted regions are focusing on Southeast Asia and South America. Program scheme is as below:

Any non-profit organization based in Japan could apply for this gNutrition and Healthh Support Program. Regarding the non-profit organization based overseas only, the possibility of application eligibility could be examined if there is a recommending party for them in Japan. Ajinomoto International Cooperation Network for Nutrition and Health (AIN) 1  will be responsible for the screening and final selection.
1  AIN was established in 1999 by experts and staffs from NGOs etc., playing active roles domestically and internationally, as a promotion organization of ginternational cooperation in the fields of food, nutrition and healthh.

In each developing country targeted, Ajinomoto Group has been working with local non-governmental organizations (NGOs), governmental organizations and social service providers to identify needs in food, nutrition and health including the followings:

Training of experts in food, nutrition and health.
2.
Development and provision of educational materials on food, nutrition and health.
3.
Research and development of skills to improve quality of life on food, nutrition and health.
