The Ajinomoto Group is well aware of the importance of holding dialogues with society, and makes sure to reflect the feedback it receives from stakeholders in future corporate activities and CSR initiatives.

The Ajinomoto Group is well aware of the importance of holding dialogues with society, as they provide opportunities for the group to examine corporate initiatives together with stakeholders. The dialogues also contribute toward enhancing the efforts of both Ajinomoto and its employees to achieve the CSR Vision. Put another way, communicating with stakeholders corresponds to the “C” in the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) cycle. The group makes sure to reflect the feedback it receives from stakeholders in future corporate activities.
Moreover, Ajinomoto considers discussions with a wide range of stakeholders to be excellent opportunities for employees to practice CSR. Accordingly, the group holds a number of dialogue sessions on different topics throughout the year to enable as many employees as possible to participate.

27 stakeholders, including the media as well as representatives of NGOs and NPOs in fields such as consumer advocacy, human rights, environmental conservation, and corporate citizenship; 44 people from the Ajinomoto Group, including executives of Ajinomoto Co., Inc., and representatives of the Corporate Division, Food Products Company, Amino Acids Company, Pharmaceutical Company, Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Inc., and Calpis Co., Ltd.

Purpose and process of the CSR Activity Critique Session with Stakeholders of Ajinomoto

Every year, the Ajinomoto Group holds a critique session, during which it looks back over the year, shares the progress and challenges of its overall CSR activities, and exchanges opinions with stakeholders. The group deeply values these exchanges over simply sending published copies of its CSR reports to its stakeholders, with whom it interacts on a daily basis.
In fiscal 2007, the dialogue followed a different format from the fiscal 2006 session, in order to achieve a more focused exchange of opinions.
Before the dialogue took place, Ajinomoto sent a 50-item questionnaire to the stakeholders who were scheduled to attend, to determine which issues should be given priority attention. Six topics were selected based on the items that received the most votes. Attendees at the dialogue discussed these topics in groups and then shared their opinions with the entire assembly.
