TOKYO, November 16, 2015 – AJINOMOTO TAIWAN INC. (“AJINOMOTO TAIWAN”), a consolidated subsidiary of Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (“Ajinomoto Co.”) today began sales in Taiwan of amino VITAL® GOLD, amino VITAL® Amino Protein and amino VITAL® Perfect Energy, three sports supplements (total of nine varieties) that can efficiently replenish amino acids, which tend to be depleted by exercise.
The health food market in Taiwan has been growing at a rate of approximately 10% annually since 2008, and reached about JPY 450 billion in 2014.1 With an active government campaign to promote sports in recent years, running and bicycling have become popular nationwide. More than 30% of the population enjoys sports regularly.2 As a result, demand for sports supplements is expected to grow.
In 2014, AJINOMOTO TAIWAN launched amino VITAL® PRO for conditioning during exercise. The company has been promoting amino acids and amino VITAL® among sports enthusiasts and sports teams by holding seminars regarding amino acids and by providing samples at marathons, bicycle races and other events. The company has also entered into partnerships with National Taiwan Sport University and National Sports Training Center, where it has been conducting a broad range of support activities including dietary and nutritional support for top athletes. Through these activities, AJINOMOTO TAIWAN has confirmed that people are receptive toward amino VITAL® in Taiwan.
AJINOMOTO TAIWAN will provide comprehensive support for people who engage in sports by expanding its lineup with the launch of three products: amino VITAL® GOLD, which aids in conditioning during extreme workouts; amino VITAL® Amino Protein, which can provide the same power as typical protein supplements at ¼ the amount (approximately 4g); and amino VITAL® Perfect Energy, which helps replenish energy during endurance sports.
Ajinomoto Co. entered Taiwan in 1929 and conducts food products and specialty chemicals businesses there today. It aims to further raise recognition and promote the spread of amino VITAL® by building and expanding sales channels there.
