TOKYO, August 2, 2016 – Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (“Ajinomoto Co.”) filed patent infringement suits against CJ CheilJedang Corp. of South Korea and three of its affiliates (hereafter, the “CJ Group”), which sell MSG products, regarding the manufacturing process for such products with both the District Court of Dusseldorf in Germany and the Tokyo District Court on August 1, 2016 (local time).
The CJ Group manufactures MSG products in an Indonesian subsidiary of CJ CheilJedang Corp. and sells them in various countries. Ajinomoto Co. is of the opinion that the manufacturing process used by the CJ Group infringes its patent rights, and has applied for an injunction against the sale of the allegedly infringing products and a judgment for compensation for damages related to the allegedly infringing products already sold.
