Minimizing Environmental Impact
Considering the environment at every stage of our business
The Ajinomoto Group reached its centenary anniversary in 2009. We have being involved in the fields of food, amino-acid, health and pharmaceuticals, touching profoundly on life in many different ways. On this occasion we established a new group philosophy, in which we specified that we work for life as well as for food and health, for over the next 100 years. We declared that we would engage in life further and contribute to sustain the pursuit of healthy lives through our business.
The Ajinomoto Group’ business activities are supported by diverse life and the bounty of nature. Without maintaining the natural environment we cannot deliver our products and services. We continue our initiatives “work for life” through the products and businesses, as well as minimize environmental impact in every stage of our business activities.
Ajinomoto always carries out environmental assessments when developing new products or changing production processes.
In order to maintain a sustainable environment, we are building mechanisms for sustainable resource procurement by strengthening partnerships with the agriculture, fisheries and livestock industries.
We make full use of raw materials and effectively utilize by-products. Moreover, we are working to achieve a zero emissions target that includes reducing greenhouse gases and the impact of waste water.
In order to reduce our impact on the environment, we are increasing transportation by rail and sea over road and air, consolidating delivery centers, and promoting joint delivery systems with other manufacturers in the same industry.
While we manufacture eco-friendly products, we also promote the reduction of waste at points of sale, in product packaging, and at the dining table.
Through advertising and exhibitions, we are striving to raise environmental awareness. We are also working closely with a wide range of stakeholders in order to hear all opinions.
