The emergence of plum blossoms is a sign
of winter drawing to a close, when one feels as if spring
is just around the corner. In this same way, bush warblers
are also messengers of spring. For Japanese, these birds
are a symbolic image of spring, and as such, are used
to capture the essence of the season in traditional Japanese
songs.
