Establishment of a New Packaging Company and Strengthening
of the Domestic Sales Network in the AminoScience Business
Ajinomoto Co., Inc. has set "improving consolidated management" as one of its five key management strategies. To strengthen the business foundation of its consolidated affiliates, Ajinomoto has formed four new companies — Ajinomoto Fine-Techno Co., Inc. in October 1998, Ajinomoto Communications Inc. and Ajinomoto Oil Mills Co., Inc. in April 1999, and AJINOMOTO LOGISTICS CORPORATION in April 2000.
Now, two affiliated companies and the Specialty Chemicals Department of the AminoScience Division will be restructured in order to bolster the Ajinomoto Group's packaging business and the domestic sales network of the AminoScience business.
(1) Establishment of New Packaging Company
In the packaging business, the packaging division of Ajinomoto Takara Corporation, Inc. will be transferred to Daimi Corporation Inc. The packaging businesses that have been conducted by the two companies will be combined to form a new company, "Ajinomoto Packaging Inc."
Both companies had provided packaging and sales services for firms in various industries, particularly for Ajinomoto Group companies. However, by integrating the two packaging divisions, the new company will be able to respond broadly to the increasingly sophisticated and diverse needs of customers by concentrating and upgrading packaging technologies and supplying products and services that offer high levels of quality and satisfaction.

(2) Strengthening of the Domestic Sales Network in the AminoScience Business
Through the transfer of its packaging division to Daimi Corporation and restructuring of the domestic marketing network in the AminoScience business, effective from October 1, 2000, Ajinomoto Takara Corporation, Inc. will strengthen its sales network as the sole sales agent for nearly all domestic bulk products in the AminoScience business. Specifically, in addition to the existing lineup of amino acid products, cosmetic ingredients will also be concentrated in this company. The selection, concentration and expansion will clearly position this company as the core of the marketing division of the AminoScience business, and will further strengthen its marketing capabilities while speeding up its responsiveness.

Ajinomoto Takara Corporation will serve as a sales company that offers its customers product planning proposals and technical support such as prescription proposals, all backed by science. In doing so, the company will participate in the development and expansion of the AminoScience business.
