Ajinomoto's Reorganization of the
Domestic Food Products Business
   In line with its management policy of promoting consolidated management, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. is strengthening group companies in each of its businesses. As part of this strategy, Ajinomoto established a new company in October 2000, Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Inc., to take over the frozen foods business. In April 2001, the edible oils business will be spun off and integrated into the renewed Ajinomoto Oil Mills Co., Inc.
   At the same time, Ajinomoto is reorganizing its domestic food products business to promote its policies of selection, concentration and expansion, and building a foundation for new growth. Through this effort, research, development, production and sales will be bundled together to promote speedy and efficient business operations, with the aim of bolstering cost competitiveness and increasing profitability.
I. Integration of Research, Development, Production and Sales
The sales division and Food Research & Development Laboratories of the domestic food products business will be integrated into the Food Products Division.
Major domestic affiliated manufacturing companies related to this business will also move under the umbrella of the Food Products Division.
 
II. Restructuring and Establishment of Organizations
1. Restructuring of Existing Departments
The Seasoning & Related Product Dept. and Processed Food Dept. of the present Food Products Div. will be restructured into the following three departments:
   
 
(1) Food Products Dept. 1:   In charge of basic seasonings such as AJI-NO-MOTO, Hi-Me and Aji-Shio, and Japanese-style seasonings such as Hon-Dashi.
     
(2) Food Products Dept. 2: In charge of mayonnaise products such as Pure Select, soup products such as Ajinomoto Consomme and Knorr, and Kellogg's breakfast cereals.
     
(3) Food Products Dept. 3: In charge mainly of retort pouch products such as Cook Do and Gohan Ga Susumu Kun.
   
2. Establishment of Sales Logistics Center
 
The present Sales Logistics Center and the Sales & Logistics Management Dept. will be combined to form the Sales Logistics Center, which will be in charge of strategic planning for sales activities as well as information and logistics.
   
3. Food Research & Development Laboratories
 
In the area of domestic and overseas food products, the Food Research & Development Laboratories will focus on medium- to long-term R&D themes and the creation of new businesses.
   
4. Establishment of Seasoning Research and Development Department
 
This department will be established as an organization in charge of domestic and overseas product development, technical support and applications.
   
5. Establishment of Administration Office for Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Inc. and Ajinomoto Oil Mills Co., Inc.
 
The Administration Office for Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Inc. and Ajinomoto Oil Mills Co., Inc. will be newly established. The Administration Office for Ajinomoto Frozen Foods Co., Inc. and Ajinomoto Oil Mills Co., Inc., the Administration Office for Ajinomoto General Foods, Inc. and the Administration Office for Calpis Co., Ltd. will be organizations independent from the Food Products Division.
