(Ajinomoto; President & CEO: Kunio Egashira, Headquarter: Tokyo Japan) today announced the proposal of the new President & CEO was approved at the Board of Directors’ Meeting held today. Effective the end of June 2005, to approval at Ajinomoto Co., Inc. Ordinary General Shareholder’s Meeting.

Kunio Egashira, President & CEO, has served in his current position for 8 years since June 1997. He successfully led the company to develop and implement two 3-year management plans and realized the group’s mission to make Ajinomoto Co., Inc. a leading global food and amino acid company. Consolidated net sales exceeded one trillion yen for the fiscal term, which ended March 2004. Consolidated net sales, operating income and net income will all reach their highest levels in the history of the company and ROE will exceed 10% as planned for the fiscal year ending March 2005.
Ajinomoto will begin its first year of its 2005/2010 mid-long term management plan in April 2005 and begin building the foundation for the next 100 years. For the first step of this mid-long term plan, Kunio Egashira will become Chairman and Norio Yamaguchi will assume the position of President & Chief Executive Officer and lead the company to solidify and reinforce its management structure.
