| Hanami, or flower viewing,
first originated during the Edo Period in Japan. In March
or April when the cherry blossoms first bloomed, people
would gather together, bringing elaborate box lunches,
wherein they would eat and drink, and make merry. Today,
people still gather under the cherry trees at lunch time
or in the evening to eat delicious foods, sip sake and
enjoy themselves. |
