Ajinomoto Co., Inc. holds the fifth roundtable on better animal welfare

November 4th, 2020

In order to strengthen Ajinomoto Group’s initiatives for animal welfare, we held the fifth roundtable on September 28. With Professor Junko Edahiro of Graduate School of Leadership and Innovation, Shizenkan University as facilitator, we focused on survey reports on animal welfare inside and outside Japan, and engaged in a constructive exchange of opinions on the themes noted below with outside experts.

  • Report on a survey of awareness of animal welfare in Japan

  • Report on survey of awareness of animal welfare overseas

  • Report on launching an animal welfare working group to support the activities of the roundtable

We studied different countries’ legal regulations and the status of consumer awareness in the two survey reports, and exchanged opinions on launching an animal welfare working group composed of Ajinomoto employees with relevant responsibilities. At the same time, we also covered the tasks with which this working group will be involved.

In the sixth roundtable, we plan to share opinions on the animal welfare working group’s activity report and on revising our Group Shared Policy on Better Mutual Relationships with Animals.
