Ajinomoto Co., Inc. joined Business Ambition for 1.5°C, led by a global coalition of UN agencies

On May 21, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. joined Business Ambitious for 1.5°C campaign, which is calling on companies to set science-based targets aligned with limiting global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, led by the UN Global Compact*1 and the Science Based Targets initiative*2 and the We Mean Business*3.
The Ajinomoto Group business is built on top of a healthy global environment and rich ecosystems. In order to continue being an integral part of society, the Group needs to conduct business activities that help transform society into an environmentally-friendly, low-carbon, circular economy. The Group will continue contributing to global sustainability by determining of environmental impact across the entire lifecycle and initiatives to reduce such impact
The UN Global Compact (UNGC) is a voluntary initiative for businesses and organizations to participate in creating a global framework for achieving sustainable growth by acting as part of society through responsible and creative leadership. The UNGC calls for companies to adopt, support, and respect ten principles in the four areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
The Science Based Targets initiative champions science-based target setting as a powerful way of boosting companies’ competitive advantage in the transition to the low-carbon economy. It is a collaboration between CDP, the UNGC, World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments.
The We Mean Business is a global nonprofit coalition working with the world’s most influential businesses to take action on climate change. The Coalition takes action through platform about Net-zero, Energy, Transport, Natural Climate Solutions, Heavy Industry, Enablers.
