Notice about revision of Group Shared Policy on Animal Welfare
April 2nd, 2021
Ajinomoto Co., Inc. has revised its Group Shared Policy on Animal Welfare as of April 1, 2021.
Over the last year, we strengthened initiatives for animal welfare by holding roundtables with external experts and establishing a working group composed of employees with responsibilities related to livestock in order to carry out exchanges of opinions on how we can realize better mutual relationships with animals. This process drove the formulation of the revisions.
The previous policy had been formulated in 2018 but since then, there have been changes in animal welfare movements in both Japan and overseas. In Japan, as sustainability and ethical consumption trends have become more widespread, the concept of animal welfare has rapidly become prevalent. These revisions have enabled us to change the name of the policy and renew it with more specific content.
Going forward, we will advance specific initiatives for improving animal welfare under this policy. Information about the content of these initiatives will be released as appropriate.
