Kachimeshi®: A Nutrition Program Launched Under the Victory Project®

Since 2009, Ajinomoto Co., Inc. has leveraged our expertise in food and amino acids to support the physical conditioning of Japanese national team athletes and candidates. We call this program the Victory Project®.

Through the Victory Project®, we have helped top athletes in Japan Eat Well (eat for a specific purpose) and Live Well (win on the world stage).

In the Ajinomoto Group, we want to apply the experience and knowledge gained through nutritional support for top athletes to the home dining table as well. This desire led us to develop Kachimeshi®, a nutrition program that focuses not on what to eat, but rather on the purpose for eating, to help each individual achieve his or her goals.

Offering delicious, nutritionally balanced meals to consumers. This is the essence of how the Ajinomoto Group strives to solve food and health issues.

The JDSF Breaking Summer Camp was held on Miyakojima Island, Okinawa, over five days between August 22 and August 26. At the camp, the Japanese National Breaking Team and designated athletes. Ajinomoto Victory Project® members went to Miyakojima to update the athletes on nutrition information.

1. Kachimeshi® Workshops; Raising Awareness of Nutrition

Camp participants attended two nutrition workshops on the first day of camp, held before and after dinner. Before dinner, the Ajinomoto Group’s representatives provided information on basic Kachimeshi® techniques, including nutritional balance. After dinner, participants evaluated their own diets, learned more about how the body changes during exercise, and were instructed in the use of aminoVITAL® for more efficient intake of amino acids and energy.

2. Victory Project® Booth

The Ajinomoto Group set up a Victory Project® product booth in the team practice area to provide participants an opportunity to experience the products discussed in the workshops. The booth offered aminoVITAL® products tailored to the individual goals and timing requirements of each athlete, as well as information on how amino acids work and techniques for efficient nutritional intake.

3. Kachimeshi® Menu Options and Practical Use

Representatives from the Ajinomoto Group also provided Kachimeshi® menu options and information to camp participants. Athletes tested NOMU ODASHI a readily available drink to switch on the appetite, during breakfast and lunch. A pot for DASHI CHAZUKE was set up in the white rice area of the dining room, and we provided For ATHLETE® gyoza (dumplings), a product tailored to the needs of athletes.

Many of the breakdancing athletes were interested in the new information and products, actively incorporating what they learned during the training camp. The Ajinomoto Group will continue to provide nutritional support through Kachimeshi® to help athletes perform their best at all times.
