Ajinomoto Co., Inc. holds the third Sustainability Advisory Council Meeting

June 6th, 2022

Ajinomoto Co., Inc. held the third Sustainability Advisory Council meeting on April 19, 2022.

We have held pre-meeting in April 2021, first meeting in May 2021, and second meeting in November 2021. Through these meetings, members of the Council have deepened their understanding on history, identity, core-capability, and ideal state in future of the Ajinomoto Group (“the Group”). In addition, we have received their expectation and request to the Group from the perspective of the specialized areas of the members in the way of future-oriented and constructive.

At the beginning of the third meeting, the Chair announced changes in Council members due to the executive personnel changes of Ajinomoto Co., Inc. in April 2022, and the former CEO, Nishii, told to the Members that the Group’s great hopes for Sustainability Advisory Council will not change at all in the future.

From the third meeting we have moved from the stage of "deepening understanding" to "forming opinions" for the report to the Board of Directors.

Prior to the meeting, each Council member reviewed the latest iteration of the Group’s growth story through value creation based on sustainability, with an eye to 2030 and beyond. At the meeting, all Council members gave their opinions on the materiality necessary for the Group's strategy for sustainable creation of value into the future. All participants deepened discussion, actively exchanged opinions, and understood the ideas behind the opinions of each Council member representing their areas of expertise and stakeholders.

At the fourth and the final Sustainability Advisory Council meeting, we plan to further deepen discussions. The Council will report materiality from a long-term perspective, and others to the Board of Directors.
