In partnership with the World Climate Foundation, at COP30, our CEO Shigeo Nakamura highlights how solutions powered by “AminoScience” can support more sustainable agriculture.
At COP30, Nakamura points to bio-cycle and biostimulants as examples of how the Ajinomoto Group applies amino acid–based innovation to sustainability challenges. Bio-cycle refers to a circular system that returns fermentation co-products from amino acid production back to farmland, helping reuse resources and reduce waste.
Biostimulants, derived from these fermentation co-products, support crop growth while reducing the need for chemical fertilizers and water, contributing to healthier soils and more resilient agriculture.
Agrifood systems account for more than 20% of global GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, yet receives only 4% of climate finance, Nakamura notes. Closing this gap is essential to achieving national climate targets like the Paris Agreement and to scaling science-based solutions through clearer policies, reduced risks, and stronger investment pipelines.
The Ajinomoto Group will continue working with partners worldwide to advance sustainable agrifood systems.
